The Adobe Acrobat format is excellent for educational material with a lot of text. Few people choose to read large amounts of text on their monitor. They would prefer to print the material and read from the printed copy. Acrobat excels at this type of material for three reasons. It prints well, file sizes can be kept reasonably small, and it is easy to navigate throughout the Acrobat document.

All of the curriculum work I have put on the WWW recently has been in this format. The reasons were as stated above. An added benefit was that printing costs were cut because people could quickly find the sections pertinent to them and only print those sections.
